General Culture
• a typical day begins anywhere between 7:30 and 9am and finishes between 4 and 5pm.
• generally eat at their desk
• lunch anywhere between 11:30 and 2pm - they get 30 minutes however no one actually takes 30 minutes
• busy and productive
• positive towards solving problems
• each day comes with a new set of challenges
• the staff and volunteers are very friendly yet professional
• the organisation values their volunteers and as such have a reward/recognition program for all their volunteers
• staff are encouraged and love to participate in various events/campaigns
• animals are a huge part of the culture - staff are encouraged to interact with animals and to have office pets - this also aids the animal in socialisation and getting them ready for their 'furever' homes
Communication:
• although in quite confined quarters the majority of coresspondance is done via email unless it is a question that can be answered very quickly (people then talk face to face).
• weekly meetings are scheduled to make sure everyone is on the same page
• generally only one person (Kara) deals and directly communicates with outside and internal stakeholders within the organisation
Deadline Expectations
• overtime not expected - it depends if people are available. If it does happen it is rare.
• more relaxed than your average marketing or design company, no one breathing down your neck
• don't put themselves under unnecesary pressure - will outsource to design agencies if required
• they expect other departments/stakeholders respect and value their time especially when it comes to deadlines i.e. they won't take on jobs if they know that they won't be able to deliver
• sacrifice their own personal time if it's urgent - as they honestly care about what happens to the animals
• no firewalls in marketing i.e. all websites are available to us including social media and music sites as these directly relate to the work we do
